Mint Terribilis Dart Frogs – Phyllobates terribilis
Discover mint terribilis dart frogs at Ohio Pet Depot in Mansfield, Ohio. Known scientifically as Phyllobates terribilis, the mint form of the golden poison dart frog is a distinctive choice for amphibian enthusiasts interested in a carefully maintained tropical vivarium. The frogs pictured display green-gold tones along the back with darker, finely speckled legs and sides.
A Distinctive Tropical Vivarium Species
Mint terribilis dart frogs are active during the day, offering opportunities to observe their natural behavior. These terrestrial amphibians benefit from usable floor space, sheltered retreats, and a thoughtfully arranged habitat. Live plants, leaf litter, and suitable hiding places can create an attractive naturalistic display while providing cover and areas to explore.
Habitat and Feeding Essentials
Prepare a secure enclosure before bringing your frogs home. Their habitat needs carefully managed humidity, appropriate ventilation, and stable, species-appropriate temperatures. Use suitable substrate and clean water, and monitor enclosure conditions consistently. Research a complete care plan rather than relying on appearance or general frog-care advice alone.
Offer appropriately sized live feeder insects with suitable calcium and vitamin supplementation. Feeding needs vary with an animal's size and stage of development, so confirm an appropriate routine for the individual frogs you select. Plan housing compatibility carefully, and seek advice from a veterinarian experienced with amphibians for health concerns.
These dart frogs are display animals rather than hands-on pets. Avoid unnecessary handling, and establish a consistent enclosure maintenance routine that respects their delicate skin and specialized needs.
