Adequate lighting is crucial, so ensure that your turtle has access to UVB lighting for 10–12 hours daily. This light will support vital processes such as shell and bone health, keeping your turtle vibrant and active. Furthermore, it’s imperative to provide a designated basking area with temperatures between 32–35°C, enabling your turtle to regulate its body temperature effectively.

Feeding is another vital part of charcoal red-eared slider turtle. Provide a balanced diet consisting of a variety of aquatic vegetation, high-quality commercial turtle pellets, and occasional protein sources like insects or small fish. This diverse diet will help meet the nutritional needs of your turtle, ensuring optimal growth and health.

Additionally, regular maintenance of water quality is key to preventing disease. Employ a good water filtration system, and perform weekly partial water changes of about 25–30% to keep the environment clean and safe.
